About me...

I have a Masters in Counselling and am a fully registered member of NZCCA (New Zealand Christian Counsellors Association). I completed my Master’s thesis on ‘Burnout Prevention’ and am passionate about helping individuals and organisations find ways to prevent burnout from occurring.

I enjoy working with individuals, couples and groups and have worked with ACC sensitive claims, families with the Child Cancer Foundation and many other clients who are grappling with the trials that living in this world can bring. I have experience working with young people through to the elderly, from a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds.

In sessions with clients, I adopt a pluralistic approach that is client centred and based on the needs of the individual. I see it as a privilege to support and journey alongside people, holding hope as they grapple with the challenges of life.

My Approach...

I trained as a pluralistic, person centred therapist. While I bring experience and knowledge in certain therapeitic modalities, I work with clients in a collaborative way to ensure they get the help and support they are hoping for. These are some of the modalities I utilise in my practice...

The pluralistic, person centred approach...

Relationship based apprach, tailored to the individual.

This approach values the clients preferences, experiences & goals. A range of therapeutic methods are collaboratively chosen to support client change. This approach underpins all ot the work that I do.

Acceptance commitment therapy... (ACT)

The goal in ACT is to increase psychological flexibility - to stay present in the moment and engage in a meaningful life even when facing discomfort.

Cognitive behaviour therapy... (CBT)

An approach that helps people understand how their thoughts, feelings and behaviours affect the way they feel. Simply put the goal is to identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with more helpful ways of viewing things.

Narrative therapy...

This approach endeavours to help people identify the stories they are telling themselves. Once this is achieved it becomes possible to step back from the 'problem' in order to modify or change the story that one is telling themselves.
